1. What Mithos is
Mithos ("the Platform", "we", "us") is a backtesting and automation tool for the UK's leveraged trading market. You connect your own brokerage account, design and test your own trading strategies using the Platform's tools, and choose whether to automate execution of a strategy you have built and approved.
The Platform does not provide investment advice, does not recommend any strategy, and does not manage your money or your account on a discretionary basis. You select, build, test, and — if you choose — arm every strategy that runs on your account.
2. Eligibility
- You must be able to form a binding contract under the laws of England and Wales.
- Backtesting, strategy building, and the rigor harness are available regardless of where you live.
- Live automated trading is UK-only. To arm a strategy for live automation you must be a UK resident, and you self-declare this as part of that process. This restriction exists because live automation connects to UK spread betting and CFD brokers and relies on the UK tax and regulatory treatment described in Section 4.
- You are responsible for ensuring your use of the Platform, and any spread betting or CFD trading you conduct through your own broker, is lawful in your circumstances.
3. What you're buying
A subscription gives you access to a strategy-building interface, a backtesting and statistical validation engine ("the rigor harness") that tests your strategy against historical data, and, if you choose, the ability to automate execution of a strategy you have built, tested, and explicitly armed.
A rigor-harness verdict of PASSED means a strategy cleared every pre-declared statistical check on historical data. It does not mean the strategy will be profitable in the future, and it is not a guarantee of any kind. A REJECTED verdict means the evidence did not support running the strategy with real money.
4. Risk disclosure
- Spread betting and CFD trading carry a high level of risk and can result in losses that exceed your deposited funds, depending on your broker's margin terms.
- Past performance, including backtested performance shown by this Platform, is not a reliable indicator of future results.
- You are solely responsible for all trading decisions made using strategies built or automated through the Platform, and for all outcomes of those decisions.
- The tax treatment of UK spread betting profits and losses depends on your individual circumstances and can change. This is not tax advice, and you should seek independent advice if you are unsure of your position.
- A platform-level daily-loss circuit breaker exists as an additional safeguard on every armed strategy, independent of your own strategy's settings. It is a risk-management feature, not a guarantee against loss.
5. Your account and your broker connection
- You connect your own IG brokerage account. The Platform never holds your trading capital.
- Your broker credentials are encrypted at rest and are never visible to us in plaintext or logged in plain form.
- You may disconnect your broker account at any time. Disconnecting does not automatically close any open positions held at your broker.
- Live vs demo account type is always clearly displayed wherever your strategies, trades, or P&L are shown.
6. Automation and arming a strategy
- No strategy runs live, and no trade is placed, without you explicitly "arming" it — a deliberate, logged action taken at the point real capital is at risk.
- Arming a strategy means you accept that it will trade automatically, without a per-trade confirmation from you, according to the rules you built and approved.
- You may disarm any strategy at any time. Disarming stops new automated trades from that strategy; it does not close positions already open.
- If the Platform loses the ability to reliably monitor or manage your armed strategies, strategies are treated as unmanaged from that point until the issue is resolved, and you will be notified.
7. Subscription, billing, and cancellation
- Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis via our payment provider.
- Displayed prices are exclusive of VAT. We will update this policy if and when we become VAT-registered.
- On cancellation: any automated intraday strategy you have armed is disarmed immediately and automatically. Open positions from slower-moving (swing) strategies are left for you to manage manually.
- If a payment fails, live automation is disarmed and you will be notified. We will never continue automated trading on an account with a failed or lapsed subscription.
8. Refunds
See our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
9. Liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for trading losses arising from your use of any strategy, whether or not that strategy passed the rigor harness.
- We are liable for genuine failures of the service itself — for example, extended platform downtime that prevented you from disarming a strategy, or a confirmed bug in the Platform's own code that caused a materially incorrect trade.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Changes to the service
Shared platform logic (the rigor harness, strategy-building blocks) may be updated over time. Every armed strategy is tagged to the exact version of the logic it was built against. A change to shared logic that would affect an already-armed strategy requires your explicit re-confirmation before it takes effect — we will never silently change the behaviour of something you have already armed.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
